Sweet Sunset #2

Sunday evening Jadon and I were treated to a display of glorious proportions. The rain of the afternoon had stopped and the sun cast the pretty glows over the clouds.

Ah, God is good. :D

Dawn On The Lake

My soul was refreshed watching the sunrise Saturday morning over a local lake. Refreshed and strengthen – as only rest and nature can do.

We And They by Rudyard Kipling

Father and Mother, and Me,
Sister and Auntie say
All the people like us are We,
And every one else is They.
And They live over the sea,
While We live over the way,
But-would you believe it?—They look upon We
As only a sort of They!

We eat pork and beef
With cow-horn-handled knives.
They who gobble Their rice off a leaf,
Are horrified out of Their lives;
While they who live up a tree,
And feast on grubs and clay,
(Isn’t it scandalous? ) look upon We
As a simply disgusting They!

We shoot birds with a gun.
They stick lions with spears.
Their full-dress is un-.
We dress up to Our ears.
They like Their friends for tea.
We like Our friends to stay;
And, after all that, They look upon We
As an utterly ignorant They!

The heavens declare the glory of God

One glance is all it took to enter a tunnel – all senses attuned to the changing lights [...]

Seattle: A Photo Journey

My recent journey to the Society of Vineyard Scholars conference was also my first time visiting Seattle, Washington. Flying from Boise, I arrived a few hours before the conference started, so Roy Conwell, a great friend and the pastor of the Mountain Vineyard in Kent, WA, volunteered to show me around the city. The below pictures are from this quick tour.

The Role of the Arts in the Vineyard by Scott McElroy

Scott McElroy is the author of "Finding the Divine Inspiration"

In an amazing display of timing, Tri Robinson published an article about the arts by Scott McElroy yesterday.

It is amazing because last night I was listening to an old VLI lecture on church history. In this lecture Steve Robbins mentioned how the [...]

Winter Is Here

I was slightly surprised this morning when I looked out the window for the fields where covered with a light dusting of frost and the mountains with snow. Em mentioned that this has been happening for a while – but I never get to see it as I leave for work before dawn every [...]
